In December, our Church will partner with Danbury Youth Services, the recipient of the Church’s 2018 Missions Endowment Award, to put our collective skills together to donate used bicycles and repair them, for distribution via community groups and schools to families in need of bicycles for their children for Christmas.
Have a neglected children's or adolescent bike taking up space in your garage? Even one that's a little broken? Donate it and make a local child's holiday bright! Home pick-up is available if you’re not able to get it to the Church.
You can also volunteer to help the DYS youths repair the bicycles. Donated bikes will be scrubbed down and cleaned. Then the bikes will be checked out, have tubes and tires replaced, all loose components tightened down, and new brake lines, bearings, or other parts replaced if needed!
Not familiar with Danbury Youth Services? The mission of Danbury Youth Services is one that is embraced by their board and staff alike: to strengthen youth and families by supporting and fostering hope alongside teaching the skills necessary to lead positive and productive lives. Of paramount importance to all is to provide children with the ability to lead successful lives while engaging families in the process. Building life skills, teaching children coping mechanisms, and being a resource for both children and families are some of the ways that the mission is carried out.
Sign-up sheets will be available around the Church or contact Pete Peterson at 203-262-6460 or email@example.com
