Holiday Fair

The Holiday Fair offers shopping opportunities, live and silent auctions, a raffle, visits from Mr. and Mrs. Claus, and a luncheon. At the Handcrafted Christmas Market, shoppers will find a variety of Thanksgiving and Christmas decorative items such as indoor wreaths and tabletop arrangements perfect for a hostess gift or for holiday decorating.

Other gift items for sale range from hand knitted winter wear items for both children and adults, kitchen accessories such as aprons and microwave cozies, doll clothes, baby and toddler blankets, to handmade gift cards and tags.

Boxed Christmas and note cards, 2019 calendars, puzzles, and prints from the Linda Nelson Stocks estate will also be for sale.

Ms. Stocks was a well-known painter from Woodbury whose idyllic paintings depicting her childhood days on her family’s Illinois farm evoke feelings of nostalgia for days gone by. More shopping opportunities can be found at the estate jewelry and silver table and edible treats at the Bake Shoppe.

Boy Scout Troop 60 will again be selling fresh evergreen wreaths, perfect for decorating a front door or gate. Santa and Mrs. Claus, direct from the North Pole, will make an appearance at 10:30 am to visit with children and read holiday stories.

A diverse luncheon menu will be served between 11 am and 1 pm at the Snowflake Cafe.

Diners will have a choice of chili, corn chowder, chicken noodle soup, hotdogs, mac ‘n cheese, green and seafood salads, homemade apple crisp and pumpkin pie a la carte. The silent auction will run from 9:30 am to noon and Paul Stansel from Connecticut’s Absolute Auctions, Collinsville, will begin the live auction at 2 pm.

Items up for bid include one-week stays at vacation homes, art work, golf packages, gift baskets, gift certificates, catered dinners, and other specialty items are featured in both auctions.

The grand finale will take place at 3 pm, when four prizes will be awarded: a $75 gift certificate redeemable at Newbury Place, Bose Soundlink Revolve Portable Bluetooth 360 Speaker, a sixth generation 32GB Apple iPad, and a 84” by 84” quilt inspired by the church’s annual Easter labyrinth.

Church member Kim Friend incorporated several shades of blue into a quilt design that creates an intriguing 3-D maze.

Raffle tickets may be purchased between 9:30 am and 2 pm in the church office or on the day of the fair.
