Sunday School

Sunday School takes place during the 9:30 am service and is for any child in preschool through 7th grade. Children attend the beginning of worship in the Sanctuary with their families and then are dismissed to their classrooms after a brief music ministry following the Children’s Moment.

Classes are grouped as preschool, kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades; 3rd, 4th and 5th Grades; and 6th and 7th grades. A Presenter (a volunteer who teaches the lesson) and a Shepherd (a volunteer who brings the children from the Sanctuary to their classroom and assists the Presenter) is assigned to each group.

A Sunday School Superintendent (who is a member of the Board of Christian Education) is available each week Sunday School is taught. All volunteers working with our youth have a signed Safe Sanctuary Agreement.

+ Infants and Toddlers

For our littlest members, we have a nursery where infants and toddlers can spend the service together under the guidance of our Nursery Coordinator. You can drop your child off at the nursery (located next to the church offices) before services begin.

+ Preschool - 5th Grade

For grades preschool through 5th our Sunday School program uses the Spark Workshop Rotation Sunday School curriculum. This curriculum includes the following workshop options: Art, Bible Skills and Games, Computer Lab, Cooking, Creative Drama, Music, Science, and Video. Lessons are customized to fit our needs and designed to provide a six-year Bible knowledge plan along with lessons steeped in possessing wholesome morals and values, service and community. Take-home family sheets are given to children each Sunday so that parents are provided with information about the unit being taught as well as ways to carry over the lessons during the week.

+ 6th and 7th Grade

Grades 6/7 classes use the Feasting on the Word curriculum. This curriculum begins with a solid scriptural and theological base and utilizes a common Bible passage for all learners, making it easy for families to learn and live out their faith together. Our goal is to prepare students for Confirmation, as well as prepare them to become active members of our Church.

+ Communion Sunday

Christian Ed also now offers the Creation Nation Choir program on Communion Sunday (the first Sunday of each month). Our Sunday School children have a large group lesson (preschool-grade 7) where the children have the opportunity to enjoy each other’s fellowship during an all-ages activity mostly focused around Creation Nation Choir. The children attend Creation Nation after the Children’s Moment, singing for the lesson and returning to the Sanctuary to join their families for communion.
