At UCC Southbury, we believe the church is more than a building. It is a living school for the soul. Carl Jung once said that the church should be a school for those who are done with school, a place where people can continue their education in the things of the spirit. That is our mission: to be a school for the soul, a spiritual resource center for all who seek Christ’s presence and guidance.

C.S. Lewis once described the church as a secret revolutionary group that has landed in enemy-occupied territory, working quietly to spread the life of Christ. That is our calling too. Our staff, programs, and outreach exist to teach Christ and to ignite the Christ-life in all people through worship, teaching, counseling, guidance, service, and mission.
Paul reminds us that “each one should give as they have decided in their heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Corinthians 9:7).
